With the superb summer weather we have been enjoying throughout South Africa over the past two months, we’re sure your bicycle saddle has become part of your daily attire! Have you been wondering why your cycle touring emails have been so scarce? Well, our very own Melanie gave birth to a beautiful baby boy in the early hours of Wednesday morning, the 13th February 2008. Both mom and baby Daniel are doing very well and we look forward to having Melanie back on-line in a few months.

What a weekend of cycling!!! The annual Herald VW Cycle Tour saw over 3 000 cyclists and cycling enthusiasts descending on the friendly city of Port Elizabeth in February. The weekend kicked off with a brand new Mountain Bike Challenge through the Addo Elephant National Park and was enjoyed by a record turnout in near perfect cycling weather. Unfortunately, the weather back in Port Elizabeth was not so kind to the brave cyclists who participated in the Road Race events in near gale-force winds! Undeterred though, thousands of cyclists took to the road on what has been labelled as one of South Africa’s most scenic cycle tour routes.

This popular monthly fun-ride enjoyed some great cycling weather this month and saw a host of new and old faces joining us on the three routes to the Elephant Walk Restaurant for a well deserved cuppa Coffee & delicious Muffin.
